    Saw Serenity, really liked it.
Had to chuckle at one point because I recognized a filming location.

This was part of a city, and for filming they added a few set elements to look futuristic and technological.
In reality, this is a high school in California near Pomona. It was designed by a well known firm called Morphosis, headed by Thom Mayne. I saw him lecture once, it was really cool.

    the Wit
    (80% dark, 15% spontaneous, 21% vulgar)
    your humor style:
    CLEAN | COMPLEX | DARK

You like things edgy, subtle, and smart. I guess that means you're
probably an intellectual, but don't take that to mean pretentious. You
realize 'dumb' can be witty--after all isn't that the Simpsons'
philosophy?--but rudeness for its own sake, 'gross-out' humor and most
other things found in a fraternity leave you totally flat.

I guess you just have a more cerebral approach than most. You have the perfect mindset for a joke writer or staff writer.

Your sense of humor takes the most thought to appreciate, but it's also the best, in my opinion.

You probably loved the Office. If you don't know what I'm

kinda busy in studio this week. had a model due wednesday that took nearly an all-nighter on tuesday night to do, and I just finished work on a drawing/photoshop editing to stage the design as an occupied space and such. also had to do a quick write-up on the ideas at work in my design, blah blah blah. had to get up kinda early to finish all of that this morning. and now I have class in half hour. but it's ok, cause after class I'm heading to WYSIWYG for some computer gaming and Austin's birthdayness.
New York in less than a week, we've gone over the itinerary and a lot of it is stuff I've already seen but we are also going to visit about four architecture firms in Manhattan and I am rather interested about that. need to get that sort of image in mind to stay focused, I think (eyes on the prize, and so on). damn, I really want to graduate.

anyhoo, that's what's going on. note to self: work on assembling halloween costume after I get back from the trip. anyone know where Goodwill is so I can go search for stuff?

At Least I Dont Have Cabin Fever
All this hurricane activity has kept me inside all day.
For most of the day there has been no cable internet (although the tv still functioned). Mostly read a book today, played some console gaming.

The highlights for today have to have been
1)the water seepage that has gotten through a bit of the brickwork and down at the floor level
2)the tree that fell against my apartment building outside my window. I dont know how much damage that did to the roof over the second floor, but at least the main structure probably isnt severely damaged. Luckily the tree stood close to the building, so it didnt get a lot of momentum from the short fall.

Need to check on my family in the morning to see how it went down there.

    And a week goes by...

well, first some of the rundown on classes:
Design studio will be no less challenging than usual. In fact, somewhat moreso, because I have Prof. Gundersen. From having him for Design 2, I know that he is not easy, but he is quite good as a teacher. I have hope this will help me be more motivated and I can get back to my best or at least something manageable. I knew the curriculum was being restructured starting with the year that was formerly behind me, but I was a bit taken aback on Monday to find that now D7 takes the New York City trip, and so I had to shell out over 700 bucks on Friday to pay for transportation and accomodations. Well, at least I'll enjoy being back there, and since the trip is from September 23-29, there is no way I can end up in NYC's biggest blizzard in most of a century (like when I was there during February of '03).
I also have Environmental Technology 2, another ARC class that covers nuts and bolts such as acoustics and lighting. The professor just came back from a couple years of teaching hiatus and from what I hear, he is a whiz at the material but it will be a tough class. Gotta keep myself alert during the three hour lecture block on Monday evening the class is slotted in.
Arch. Theory 2 is being taught by my least favorite teacher, so I dont want to discuss that much further.

So far the living situation is working out pretty well. I had received a decent first impression of Nina when meeting her during summer break, but wasnt largely sure how things might go. I dont have any significant misgivings so far, and am feeling a bit optimistic. As for my stuff, I still have to unpack a couple boxes to get fully settled and I need to get a bunch of architecture stuff moved over to studio. Nonetheless, books are on the shelves, posters on the wall, music on the stereo and I was even jamming on my guitar a bit earlier.

Been killing some time with Diablo 2 and reading a couple things. Gonna plow through the rest of Card's Ender series again as soon as I get my hands on Speaker For the Dead.
A few days ago I finished reading a graphic novel that Austin has called Watchmen. It was done in the mid-80's by a couple guys who worked (perhaps still do?) with DC Comics. The writer, Alan Moore, also did the graphic novel From Hell. Anyhow, I'd highly recommend reading Watchmen - it definitely can be considered a piece of literature.

well, I'm plowing through my last week of work, trying to have fun with it. I think I'll actually miss it kinda. On Monday my whole family came to the Magic Kingdom to see me, so they got pictures and video of Baloo. We met up in the park after my shift was over and had dinner. I think I'll make a post soon with assorted observations on what work was like and tourists.

Anyhow, I'll be back in Gainesville on Sunday. I'll probably spend most of the day unpacking my stuff, putting things back together and so on. And then it will be school time...

Well, I took care of moving while in Gainesville on Friday and Saturday. Now I live at Williamsburg Village down near Shands at UF. Had a busy couple of days, was glad the hurricane veered away from Gville. My family (near Orlando) weathered through safely with nothing worse than loss of power for 12 hours. Yay. Saturday night I had to go to a friend's wedding, and then got on the road right after to head back home. Then I had to get up for work extra early since they wanted to know sooner who would be in to work. Tired, took a nap for a couple hours this afternoon. This is my last week of work. I'll be returning to Gville in a little more than a week, get settled proper in my apartment and prep for school...

And oh yeah, apparently Hero is going to be released in theaters sometime soon. W00t.

well, not many guesses hazarded towards my last post.
Austin had 1 correct answer, an anonymous poster had 2 answers. He was right about #13 being false (just by taking the 50/50 between it and the broken bones statement).
Anonymous (forget to log in? I have a couple guesses on the identity, both female) got 4 and 9 correct.

    Here's a rundown on everything: )
